LANC

ImaginationLancaster, based at Lancaster University in the UK, is an open and exploratory research lab that investigates emerging issues, technologies and practices to advance knowledge and develop solutions that contribute to the common good. We conduct applied and theoretical research into products, places and systems – using innovative strategies including disruptive design techniques that combine traditional and social science methods with practice-based methods arising from the arts.

Design is inherently interdisciplinary and ImaginationLancaster’s design research creates a uniquely powerful socio-technical bridge between academic disciplines, industry, society and policy. Health and Wellbeing is one of the strategic research focus ImaginationLancaster with research focusing on: using a life-course approach to health and disease, developing non-pharmacological interventions on global ageing challenges; exploring the design of improved diet by addressing the barriers to adoption of alternative food production; and exploring the interactions between people, their physical and socio-cultural environment and use of technology to co-design interventions that ‘design out’ barriers to health promoting behaviours. Dr Emmanuel Tsekleves, leads the Global Health design at ImaginationLancaster.
